What is Ozempic® (Semaglutide)?
Ozempic® is a prescription medication designed for the management of type 2 diabetes in adults. It is commonly prescribed to:
- Improve blood sugar control in combination with diet and exercise.
Although some healthcare providers prescribe Ozempic® "off-label" for weight loss, it is not officially approved for this purpose.
How Does Ozempic® Work?
The active ingredient, semaglutide, is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics the effects of GLP-1, a naturally occurring hormone in the gut. It helps regulate blood sugar levels by:
- Stimulating the pancreas to release insulin in response to food.
- Slowing gastric emptying, which can help reduce blood sugar spikes after meals.
Global Approvals
Ozempic® is approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in several regions, including:
- USA
- European Union (EU)
- Canada
- Japan
- Australia
Please note, Ozempic® is not approved anywhere as a weight-loss medication.

- For any concerns or questions about your dosage, injection technique, or potential side effects, consult your healthcare provider.
